4 Days Mount Meru Climbing tour : This is Tanzania hiking tour that takes you to hike Mount Meru for unforgetable safari experiences in Tanzania
DAY 1: ARUSHA (1400 M) MIRIAKAMBA HUT (2500 M)
- Duration: 5-7 hours of hiking
After an early morning meal in Arusha (1400 m), you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. At this point, the porters will organize and pack your hiking gear, while you and your guide will register with Tanzania National Park (TANAPA). You will then start your ascent in Arusha National Park. The first day of hiking is comparable to a walking safari; anticipate encountering giraffes, zebras, antelope, buffalo, and maybe elephants along the trail. Because of the high likelihood of seeing wildlife, an armed ranger hired through the National Park is required to accompany our crew for the duration of the trip. As you continue hiking, you will come across the Ngarenanyuki River and a stunning waterfall at the foot of Mount Meru. When you arrive at Miriakamba Hut (2500 m), your chef will prepare a hot dinner and wash water for you. Enjoy the gorgeous sunset and stay overnight.
DAY 2: MIRIAKAMBA HUT (2500 M)-SADDLE HUT (3500 M)
- Duration: 3–5 hours of hiking
Following breakfast, you will begin ascending the steep trail along the ridge of the saddle. You may encounter numerous species along the journey! The trail offers views of the Mt. Meru Crater and the Ash Tray. When you get to camp, you can hike Little Mt. Meru (3820 m) with your guide to further adapt. You will be served an early dinner so that you can have enough sleep before your midnight summit attempt.
DAY 3: SADDLE HUT (3500 M), SUMMIT ATTEMPT (4566 M), MIRIAKAMBA HUT (2500 M)
- Duration: 10–12 hours of hiking
Your guide will awaken you at 00:30 for Hot tea and bites. You will then start your summit attempt at 1:30 a.m. The trail begins with a steep incline from Rhino Point (3800 m) to Cobra Point (4350 m). The final hour of the trek will be spent scrambling up a rocky ridge between Meru’s crater and inner cliffs. At sunrise, you will reach Meru’s peak (4565 m), which offers excellent views of Mt. Meru Ash Tray and Mt. Kilimanjaro. Enjoy the views before descending to Saddle Hut for a brief rest. You will next descend to Miriakamba Hut (2500 meters) for dinner and overnight.
DAY 4: MIRIAKAMBA HUT (2500 M)-ARUSHA (1400 M)
- Duration: 2-3 hours of hiking
After a long rest and breakfast, we’ll start our final descent to Momella Gate. We will go through woodlands and meadows, where we are likely to see wildlife. Our driver will receive you at the base of Mt. Meru and drive you back to your accommodation in Arusha or to the airport for your departure. End of the trek
