The Serengeti National Park in Tanzania takes its name from the Masai term “Siringit,” which means “endless open plains.” The Serengeti countryside is breathtakingly beautiful. While a large portion of the park is made up of periodically flooded plains, woods, and shrub savannah, the Serengeti is primarily about grassy plains. It has excellently adapted to continual grazing, making the Serengeti a haven for huge herbivores. The limitless horizon is occasionally interrupted by kopjes, which are 2.5-million-year-old stone formations. Being surrounded by millions of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles is an unforgettable experience. During their annual migration north, they stampede across wide, enormous plains, leap into crocodile-infested rivers, and are relentlessly pursued by lurking predators.
The Serengeti is a World Heritage Site, a Biosphere Reserve, and one of Africa’s new Seven Wonders. You will enjoy a picnic lunch on the Serengeti plains before continuing your game drive till the evening, returning to the camp just as the sun sets over the horizon for dinner and an overnight stay.
